Engineering of oxygen vacancy and bismuth cluster assisted ultrathin Bi<sub>12</sub>O<sub>17</sub>Cl<sub>2</sub> nanosheets with efficient and selective photoreduction of CO<sub>2</sub> to CO

Abstract The photocatalytic conversion of CO 2 into solar‐powered fuels is viewed as a forward‐looking strategy to address energy scarcity and global warming. This work demonstrated the selective photoreduction using ultrathin Bi 12 O 17 Cl nanosheets decorated with hydrothermally synthesized bismuth clusters oxygen vacancies (OVs). characterizations revealed that coexistences OVs generated in situ contributed high efficiency –CO (64.3 μmol g −1 h ) perfect selectivity. on facet (001) serve sites for adsorption activation sites, capturing photoexcited electrons prolonging light absorption due defect states. In addition, Bi‐cluster offers ability trap holes surface plasmonic resonance effect. study great potential construction semiconductor hybrids multiphotocatalysts, capable being used elimination terms environment.
